When you create an account on The Surgical Note, we collect your name and email address. We also collect usage data — such as quiz attempts, answers, and time spent — to provide you with performance analytics and study tracking.

2. How we use your information

Your information is used solely to operate and improve the platform: authenticating your account, tracking your quiz progress, displaying your study stats, and sending password reset emails when requested. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure servers with industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase for authentication and data storage. While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

4. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You may also delete your account, which will remove all associated data from our systems.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your session. Without them the site cannot log you in.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, so we know which subjects and features to work on. It records the pages you open, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you use. It does not receive your name, your email address, or any of your answers. Google sets its own cookies to do this, and you can block them in your browser settings or with any ad blocker. The site works normally if you do.

We use Vercel Analytics as well, which counts page visits without cookies and without following you between websites.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the platform or email.
